Bridge House Annual Charity Book Scheme

Bridge House Publishing are pleased to announce that they will be supporting a charity each year with the publication of a special anthology, and a percentage of every book purchased will go to that chosen charity. Authors will also be asked to donate their royalties with the charity.

For our first year the chosen charity is the Born Free Foundation in recognition of the wonderful work they do to protect endangered wildlife. This was inspired by the short story The Red Queen featured in the 2009 anthology In the Shadow of the Red Queen, which deals with a scientist's last efforts to stop the Ocelot wild cat from becoming extinct. The story highlights the need to protect our precious wildlife and the parting message of the story is one we hold dear to our hearts: Hold on to what you have while you still can.

The call for submissions is now complete and details about how you can get involved and more about this book will be featured on the website soon. If you love animals and want to help please drop me a line and I will send you some information about how you might help to promote this book in your local area.

This is a wonderfully written selection of short stories based on animals, either about animals or told from an animal's viewpoint. The stories will make you laugh or make you cry.

These are all stories about wild animals that they adhere to the beliefs of Born Free, that animals have the right to be free.

For more information about the work of Born Free visit their website

The book will include an introduction by Richard Adams, the author of perhaps one of the most famous animal stories, Watership Down.  He has also been working on a new short story to be included in the anthology.

Richard Adams has been an active supporter of 'animal causes' for many years and as long ago as 1982 was the President of the RSPCA.

We are very happy to include him as one of our leading supporters.

Virginia McKenna, Patron of the Born Free Foundation has also offered her support and the anthology will include a foreword written by her.

The book will be out in June 2010
